  1. I relate 100%. My mind is so occupied with what I need to do, say, even how to respond to situations around me! The scriptures you shared are encouraging. Thank you.

  2. One of my favorite verses that God uses to speak to me is Psalm 46:10
“Be still, and know that I am God.”
I’m a quiet person by nature but there’s a lot of times when I’m not very still so thank God for His Holy Spirit that calms me and speaks in the stillness

  3. Unless I hit the snooze button too many times I reach for my phone & pull up the (in)courage post for the day before I even step out of bed. With our German Shepherd curled against my side, the articles always point me to my God and start my day snuggled into thoughts of Him. Once I’m more fully awake I can read my devotional & listen to the Bible read to me for awhile while I work before switching to the mystery or rom-com. I’m not really a morning person but beginning my day in the stillness of snuggles with our pup helps set the tone & tunes my ears to hear His voice above others for the rest of the day. Blessings (((0)))

  4. Dear Mary……….I do understand your devotional and I, also. have been through what you experienced about praying during all the noise or more things or people making a racket. I used to pray regardless what was around me and I know that I missed the whisper of my Holy Spirit, but since I have been fortunate to find the ( incourage ) community of women, I have learned so much. I do have a number of serious problems that I have been trying to resolve in the last 5 years, but over those five years I also reminded myself that per the Serenity Prayer, I had to have the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change. To be honest, it took me quite awhile to do this, but I have. I have placed my concerns and heartbreak at the feet of Jesus and finally I don’t think nearly as long about them as I used to do. We don’t know what goes on behind the scenes with God, so I have been not worrying so much, but I will admit there are certain seasons that I do have what I call, My Sorrow Days where I just have to cry and get these things out of my mind. I did discover, that “Yes, you can pray at any time, but if your tv or radio is on, sometimes they are a distraction as I am praying but also hearing what the TV is saying. Now if the TV or radio is on, I either ‘Mute ‘ it or turn it off. I seem to hear and learn more that way. My Holy Spirit will tell me things and Jesus will tell me to follow His path as we travel on our journey through life. It has helped me significantly. Thank you, Mary for your wise words and Scriptures to refer back to. They are valuable to me as I am alone and there are some days I really feel very lonely. I have so many of the ( incourage ) community books, journals, card etc. I read something from them every day and then pray without crying. Mary, I send my love to you and hope that you have a Blessed Weekend. “HOPE” is my word for May. I appreciate your wisdom and the fact that you women take the time to write these devotional to help us older people to hang on………..Betsy Basile

  5. I think these articles help in me taking that quiet moment to read and connect with the Lord. The other thing is I try to connect with the Lord in some way every day. Whether it be in the morning and scanning through the Bible for something to read or at night with a devotional.

  6. Love this! Also I love your bio page on your blog! It was super fun to read about you. My Myer Briggs is INFP. And my Gallup strengths are Belief, Futuristic, Empathy, Strategic, and Developer. I’m also in midwest, Nebraska though.
I love my quiet time with Lord each day. I read the Bible, pray, journal and read a few devotions including (in)courage. I also love The Word for you Today (devotional). I struggle with mental health at times, so I may need to spend a lot of time with Him to stay stable. He gives me so much hope, joy and peace. There was a 9 year period of my life where I was only spending about 10-15 minutes with God daily and on and off I struggled part of those 9 years. He has really set me free from lies and helped me grow and have so much more peace and hope since I began getting up an hour early in November 2024 to be with Him. 🙂
