  1. Tenneil,

The older I get the more I realize women weren’t made to do it all. God doesn’t want our busyness to get in the way of what’s important-being present with those around us. It’s important to model loving each other no matter the situation. I believe God wants us to laugh, love & lighten up. Enjoy the family God blessed you with.

    Blessings 🙂

  2. Wow, I needed these words today – “I see God’s grace in our beautiful mess.” There is so much pressure to be perfect. Thank you for reminding me that I can’t create “perfect,” and that it is okay.

  3. I love this, Tenneil! I have an empty nest here. But I remember vividly those hard, wild days. Your advice is spot on.

  4. I identify with this so deeply. I’ve always heard “the days are long but the years short…” and they are- in retrospect. I love the idea of keeping your eye on the future but care for the present. Love this.

  5. Thanks for sharing your thoughts in this beautiful reflection. It’s just my husband and me now; our son is daddy to four and my daughter has her own home and her four-legged, furry companion. Both live in other states so I don’t see them often. Those growing up years went by so quickly. Sadly, I was frustrated way too often but through that, I learned to model apologies quite well!
I’m currently faced with getting things cleaned up, enjoying the clean counters, toilets, and floors, only to have to do them again because “my man” isn’t tidy, neat, or mindful. I need more of God’s grace as we live out whatever time we have left!

  6. “God was showing me that I’m only alone when I isolate myself in my struggles.” Aww, this is so true and so powerful, Tenneil! Thank you for sharing your hard-earned wisdom and pointing us all to the goodness and grace of God. It’s a joy to host your words on (in) courage.
