  1. Thank you Kristen for the background story on that song and, sharing your story. So often I too, see God form great things from the shadows of my hard seasons. He’s so good!

  2. Kristin,

I shared your devotion because Christmas can be such a hard season when everyone around you seems joyful and you’re in a valley.

    Thank you for sharing.

Sending you, Epiphany joy, Lisa Wilt

  3. My family is stumbling through a long, forbidding shadow. This blog reminded me that in Emmanuel, the tension of simultaneously grieving and hoping dissipates. You’ve encouraged me with the simple reminders I’m not alone and joy will come again. Thank you.

  4. Kirsten, it was a good time to read this devotion. I remember that song. I’m glad that God helps me and family through disappointment. He never leaves us nor fosakes us. His mercies are new every morning. God bless!

  5. Kristen,

It’s easy for hubby & I to feel down during the holidays. No family here, dark longer & work stress (hospital). This year I went into work & focused on my patients & families. Trying my best to encourage them. I know the RNs & CNAs that had to work appreciated me assisting them. My motto to friends was “I’m doing what Jesus would do”.

    Blessings 🙂

  6. This Christmas has possibly been one of the darkest times in my life. I forgot that even here, God is still working. thank you for reminding me again
