“Be assured that from the first day we heard of you, we haven’t stopped praying for you, asking God to give you wise minds and spirits attuned to his will, and so acquire a thorough understanding of the ways in which God works.
We pray that you’ll live well for the Master, making him proud of you as you work hard in his orchard. As you learn more and more how God works, you will learn how to do your work.
We pray that you’ll have the strength to stick it out over the long haul—not the grim strength of gritting your teeth but the glory-strength God gives. It is strength that endures the unendurable and spills over into joy, thanking the Father who makes us strong enough to take part in everything bright and beautiful that he has for us.”
Colossians 1:9-12 (MSG)
One of our favorite things at (in)courage is linking arms as sisters in Christ through prayer. Today we’re praying the words of Colossians 1:9-12 over you. Go back and read the passage again slowly. There is so much goodness there!
We’d also love to know how to pray for you specifically by name. What’s on your heart today? What area of your life do you want to live more like Jesus? Where do you need His strength or joy today?
Leave your request in the comments and bless another sister by praying for the person before you.

Let your will be done and thank you that we can come to you boldly and know you hear every single prayer. We love you Lord

I would appreciate prayers in being content with my ‘singleness.’ I am 44, never married, but not by choice. I have wanted to find someone for many years now and it hasn’t happened. I’m trying my best to be okay with it, and some days I am, but others, it’s very hard.
Areum says
Heavenly Father, I pray for this dear sister. Days when she feels lonely and alone, may you be the one she leans on. May she wait patiently on you. In Jesus name, Amen.
Sterre says
Dear Father,
I pray for L. You know how she feels, you know what she is longing for. You gave that longing in her heart. Father not yet doesn’t mean never. Father give her the strength and hope to wait for your perfect timing. You are with her every day.
Amen

I pray in agreement with all who have expressed a need this morning. God is able.
I ask for prayer for my 12 year old granddaughter. She is having some struggles with friendship relationships which is not uncommon for 12-year-old girls, but she has made comments regarding self harm. I pray that God will remove those thoughts from her, and show us as her family how to support her and help her to establish healthy friendships.
KathleenB says
Mary,
As a retired teacher, I have learned how challenging being 12 can being caught in between childhood and being a teenager. Although I’m sure the thought of your dear granddaughter possibly harming herself is alarming, it seems reassuring she voiced her thought, instead of keeping it bottled up.
I will pray for your granddaughter to find her place in her preteen world.

Sisters, My husband and I have an adult son with mental health issues. He’s been homeless for nearly a decade, living in used vehicles that we buy for him. He was raised in a Godly home and doesn’t take drugs of any kind. We’re in our 70’s and can no longer purchase used vehicles for him as we’re retired and living on a fixed income.. He works part time. It breaks our hearts that he can’t find a roof over his head. He’s lived with us on and off but it’s incredibly stressful for him and us with his mental health issues. Please pray that he can find housing. He lives in New England and it’s starting to get cold. This has been so difficult for all of us to navigate.
d from Canada says
Dear L,
May God give you peace & reassurance as you rest in your contentedness of being single. May God show you other opportunities to love & be loved be it by a pet or an adopted “family” member be that as a child, sister, niece/nephew. God knows your heart & will give you the desires of your heart but it just might come differently packaged than expected.
Read Holley Gerth’s latest devotional for inspiration. I wish you the best which is God’s. God bless you.

I need wisdom to help my best friend who is in the hospital but not getting proper treatment! He is a humble Christ centered person whom has a hard time speaking up for his needs! He needs much better care and I must speak to those in charge to tactfully explain this & see quick improvement with a truthful response from the staff. ( I have much medical training. I was once his Caregiver but this is situation is very difficult for me because I love him deeply with God’s strength but am not getting co-operation to get his care improved!
Sarah says
Good morning! Thank you for offering support, encouragement, and prayer. I’ll be talking with God about how to be better at sharing the gospel with my sons and how to impact their lives by living each day like Christ. Next, my health is driving me nuts! Ha. For months I’ve had symptoms of facial spasms, hearing problems, and dizziness. And all doctors want to do is dismiss or give me pills (headache meds and muscle relaxers). Lastly, please pray for my nephew – he’s 18, away at college, battling anxiety, depression, and he’s been cutting. He and I are in contact – identifying resources for him has been a challenge. His parents are divorced, are not nice to each other, and both are alcoholics.

Whitney Wagner says
I’m really struggling lately with my depression due to a number of things, the first being that my daughter has been in a Christian residential program for a year and a half. I am getting exhausted and just want her home. Please pray she will be able to come home soon. Secondly, I lost my job in August and am having an extremely difficult time finding work. I need guidance/wisdom to know if I’m to be working elsewhere or freelance and for either option just that the work/employment would come my way. That He would provide for our every need and that we would continue to place our trust in Him. Also for healing. I had shoulder surgery in July that is having difficulty healing and I just hurt my other arm. I need to give up control and let others help and just let things go that don’t NEED to be done.
Thank you for your prayers and for all you do.
KC says
*hugs* to you. There are fewer things that need to be done than we often think; but also it’s hard either way, to accept help or to accept things being a little scrungier (or, more often, both!).
God, please be with Whitney! Show her where she should work; comfort her and her daughter, and help her daughter stand in triumph in you, soon! Please give Whitney peace and also heal her up so she can use both her arms to do all the good things she wants to be able to do.

In Courage,
MIL finally got to see her ortho surgeon who recommended complete shoulder repair. Her health is not the greatest so she has opted not to do this. She needs prayers for health issues & pain in her back & shoulder.
Prayers for a church friend Becky who is having severe migraines. Praise she got to see a neurologist this past week they are running tests.
Prayers for my old church as their pastor has retired. They haven’t been able to find someone to replace him. It is a small church with mostly elderly people attending.
Prayers for a church friend who has to travel to Atlanta for heart troubles. The husband is an elder in the church & they are older (60-70s). Prayers for safe travels & a treatment plan to cure her.
Father God, You are Jehovah Rapha-the God who heals. Put your healing touch on those here who need it. Jehovah Jireh- the Lord will provide. Provide for the needs of those here. Shower them all with your blessings of peace, comfort, finances, whatever they need. Give each one here a great day. AMEN

Please pray that God will heal me from metastatic breast cancer. I recently began a new integrative treatment and praying that God will heal me. Also, that the leg cramps that are a side effect from a previous medicine would go away. I am asking God to provide for our needs financially as we struggle to pay our medical bills. I have been selling things and am trying to sell more. I am also asking for friends who are supportive as once you have been in treatment awhile, friends move on with their lives. I can’t blame them but I try to be a friend who reciprocates and when they move on, it is hard. I am thankful for the faith that I have. I am thankful for my husband and my son. Thank you for whoever prays today.
KC says
Please pray for my husband; for some very valid reasons, he’s been having a very hard time with faith in a God who cares and intervenes. He’s also having a rough time with motivation and friendships. (and please pray for me to reflect God to him rather than just my own fears and also annoyances!)

I pray for your husband and you through these circumstances.

Your purpose will be accomplished because you have the final word. AMEN!

I want so desperately for a strong, godly marriage. We just can’t communicate and we never seem to be in the same book, much less the same page. We could be a strong, bold couple for Christ, but it just seems like it’s never going to be.
Tammie Bray says
Meg,
My momma’s heart breaks for you. I love my child so much and don’t see him very often. We were very close when he was growing up and enjoyed being together. Now that he’s grown and married, I miss him and want so very badly to spend time with him. I feel lost without our relationship as it use to be. I don’t know what the answer is for you or for me, but whenever I think about him – which is often – I just pray, pray, pray for him and tell myself that God loves him more than I do and that I want for him what God wants for him and that helps me.

I am struggling with pain & swelling after knee replacement surgery on Sept 20. Feeling overwhelmed by the tragic death of my Uncle, my Mom’s younger brother, on Thursday Nov 2. He took his own life. Need wisdom, clarity & discernment with decisions that need to be made. He resides in New Mexico and we live in Bedford, VA. He does have friends there that are willing to help us. I praise God for y’all in this ministry.
Brenda M. Russell says
Hello hugaboo,
My condolences to you and your family.
I pray that the Holy Spirit will comfort your family during this time of bereavement.
Life can be difficult to understand. We all need Jesus as our Lord and Savior.
Mental illness is not discussed a lot in families and churches. I have had counseling for anxiety and depression. I’m learning more about myself and how I perceive myself, good circumstances and negative and hurtful circumstances.
My prayer for you is relief from physical, emotional and spiritual discomfort and distress.
Brenda
A Beloved Daughter of God
Brenda M. Russell says
This is a kind gesture to pray for your viewers.
I look forward to my immediate family being closer to each other without trying to control one another by political pressure and the lack of financial understanding.
Since I am the wife and mother, I have the position of peace maker in my family. My heart is tender because I pray for my husband to be kind and generous with our three girls.
God is our good, good Father. He loves us and does not condemn us. He embraces us and if we confess what we have done wrong, He forgives us and cleanses us from all unrighteousness.
Families are so valuable and God’s idea.
Life can be short. I don’t want my family to take each other for granted.
Thank You Lord for Your Love, Grace, Mercy, Forgiveness and Wisdom to live out our Christian Journey.
Amen.

I am a caregiver of my Mom and my aunt. Not officially but actually. I have chronic fatigue. I think it’s on hormone level. I have a dead end. I am not able to get up early and go to the hospital to make analyses concerning my state. I am very tired almost every morning. My Mom is powerless because of chemotherapy. My aunt is powerless because of the life she had before. I was for work and for taking care of my Mom abroad. I think we all need help but we don`t see recourses. We all live in Ukraine. I don`t see the way out. Please pray for us to survive and thrive. Thank you.
