  1. Jessica & (in)courage,
I have gifted “A Moment to Breathe” to several friends and family and they LOVE it! The devotions truly reach into the messy places in our lives and speak of real circumstances we encounter every day in this often hard thing called “life”. I’ve been learning, albeit the hard way, that I need to do better with soul care and taking moments each day to simply breathe and let myself “be” instead of “do”. This book is a great companion to accomplishing that.
    Blessings,
    Bev xx

  2. This devotional was beautiful. Taking our everyday and giving examples how we are used by God every day gives a lot of power to our mental health and self worth. It turns the ordinary tasks or necessities of living life and puts a magic spin to our words and actions. We might be used to show live, to help another but also gives us a sense of Gods love for ourselves.

  3. Thank you for that simple, sweet piece of encouragement for me today. I am a grandmother raising an adopted 12 year old granddaughter, divorced after my 35 year marriage ended with my husband’s affair, and lately I have just felt no purpose in my existence. I’ve made a new life, and am doing the best I can, but I’ve felt discouraged and without any passion towards anything. However, I am reminded that taking this kid to soccer and church, school and parent conferences, sleep overs and vacations, providing meals and happiness and a stable environment for her are God’s hand in her life, through me. Just praying to continue to go the distance……

    • Linda you are awesome i know life gets tough I’m going through hard period myself.

  4. Jessica & In Courage,

In January this year I lost a part time job. Surprisingly I was actually happy that it happened. The timing was perfect. God had something better in store for me. The woman I’m helping is a pastor’s wife, has her mother-in-law living with her, & is dealing with MS. The job (ICU Step down secretary) is stressful. She needs a day off in between. She recently took about 3 weeks off to to visit her daughter in Mexico & see her 4th grand child. I graciously worked all that time. Now I feel as if God is using me in work. I get to help patients, nurses, & other staff. God uses me all the time. I am privileged to cook meals for others especially my in-laws & encourage others. I was the main care giver for my aging parents. He used me to help them navigate their mental/psych issues & deal with the medical merry go round. Even in the mundane God is using you. Don’t feel purposeless. Just doing the grocery shopping, house cleaning, meal cooking, raising children, etc. is God’s way of using you. He won’t call the qualified but qualifies the called. No matter the task He will help you get through it.

    Blessings 🙂

    • “He won’t call the qualified but qualifies the called.” Wow, Beth, that’s an awesome quote! Do you mind if I share that with some people?

  5. Thank you so much for this, Jessica. This was really timely and spoke directly to my heart. It’s good to know that if you were able to write this, clearly from experience, then that means I’m not alone.

  6. It IS easy to miss that truth: God is using us every day. Thank you for the reminder, Jessica, that even the most mundane tasks can be made holy, when done in Christ’s name (Matthew 25:40).
