Chapter 15
Oh, friends, what a journey this has been! Thank you for bravely choosing to join us for The Happiness Dare. Our prayer is that Jennifer’s words, the stories on this blog, and the community you’ve discovered along the way have helped you discover the happiness God wants for each of us. Jennifer put it perfectly when she wrote:
“Long ago, [God] made all of this for you. For you! He did not create this grand old world with hostile intentions. He did it with love. Taste and see! God delights in your delight. He takes pleasure in your pleasure. He built the ‘sweet’ right into your sweet spot, not that you would turn from Him, but so that you might draw nearer to Him. Trust Him with the gifts. Trust Him with your happiness.”
Whether you are a Doer, Relater, Experiencer, Giver, or Thinker, that is what we hope you take away from this journey — a deeper trust in the God who created you, and who cares about your happiness. And now it’s our turn to go out and share our happiness with a world who could really use a bright light.
Just think how your light — your happiness — could impact the people in your life.
Your happiness is contagious, and can set a “happiness cycle” in motion.
This is the law of the happiness cycle, Jennifer writes: “The more you enjoy God, the happier you’ll be. The happier you are, the more you’ll pour out your happiness into the lives of others. The more you pour out your happiness into the lives of others, the happier they’ll be. And the more we all experience and share that happiness, the more we bring delight to the Giver.”
In the end, our genuine happiness ends up being an important part of our witness to a world in need of hope.
A. W. Tozer once said that the people of God “ought to be the happiest people in all the wide world! People should becoming to us constantly and asking the source of our joy and delight.”
Let’s give them a reason to ask.
As a reminder of the journey we’ve just finished, we would love for you to save and print this beautiful Happiness Dare Manifesto. Sign it as your commitment to continue your hunt toward happiness and your reminder that it is, indeed, a holy pursuit.
