“I rejoice over Your promise like one who finds vast treasure.”
Reasons to Rejoice . . .
Some of my favorite stories include the motif of a hidden treasure — whether it’s a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow or a buried chest of precious jewels on a secret island.
Sometimes a hidden treasure looks like Charlie, discovering the golden ticket inside a Willy Wonka chocolate bar. Other times it looks like the characters in a John Steinbeck novel, finding the great pearl.
But when the psalmist likens his joy in God’s promise to the joy of finding a vast treasure, he isn’t talking about a novel or a fairy tale.
God’s promises are real, and they’re worth more than any earthly treasure.
The psalmist has good reason to rejoice. For he knows that God always makes good on His promises. We can rejoice too. For God’s promises are still in effect today. Because He is eternal.
And yet, I wonder . . . when was the last time I actually did rejoice over one of God’s promises? Too often I take them for granted. I need to remind myself of God’s promises in His Word . . .
God has promised to remember our iniquity no more.
God has promised to walk with us, in every circumstance and every trial.
God has promised that He’ll never leave us, never forsake us.
And God has promised to prepare a place for us, so we can spend eternity with Him!
What beautiful reasons to rejoice.
Which promises of God are you rejoicing over today?

A friend’s adult son became a believer this week! She herself has only been one for 6 months, and has been praying for him since then. She felt she’d had a promise from Him that her son would believe, but didn’t dare imagine he would go from strongly against her, to calling her to say, “Hi, Mom, I’m your brother now!” so soon. Rejoicing!

Denise,
So many promises to pick from (thankful for that fact). I am thankful that His mercies are new every morning. I am also very thankful that He promises that His grace will be sufficient for all my needs and that in my weakness, He is strong. Thankful that He is faithful to fulfill all His promises to me. Pondering all these treasures has me feeling very blessed…thanks Denise.
Blessings,
Bev

So thankful for who God is, how he heals and binds our wounds, seeing His promises fulfilled in others lives. How great and vast is our God, how merciful He is. Praise be to One who loves each of us unto death!

Denise,
I rejoice that God is there through all our trials–even if we get mad sometimes!! Rejoicing today that God healed my aging dad from medical issues! Also rejoicing that we can fail, fall down and yet He forgives if we ask!!
Blessings 🙂
