“But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness,
and all these things will be given to you as well.”
Prayer is a funny thing . . . funny, in an ironic (and sometimes confusing) sort of way.
For some time now, I’ve prayed any number of different prayers.
Prayers for guidance and direction.
Prayers for a friend’s physical healing.
Prayers for a family member’s salvation.
Yet, no matter which prayer I pray, I keep hearing the same words reverberate in my heart: Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness.
Frankly, I’ve found this response to my prayers a little frustrating. Because, if truth be told, I don’t want a one-size-fits-all type of answer to my prayers. I want results. Visible results.
But then I wonder . . . if just perhaps . . . God is trying to get something through to me.
Seek God. Plain and simple. And trust God to take care of the rest.
So I bow my head and heart, once again, and ask God to help me do just that.
Is there a certain verse that keeps coming to mind for you?
