Chapter 9, Embracing Help
Chapter 10, Overcoming Obstacles
Q1. Have you ever considered that not asking for help is robbing another of the blessing of meeting your need? How does that change the way you view asking for help now? Why do you think it’s so hard to ask when you’re likely more than ready to lend a hand to others?
Q2. The girls mention a variety of ways we can embrace help by sharing their personal examples, which Jessica goes into more detail in Chapter 9; after reading through the suggestions she offers for getting help with cleaning, cooking, home maintenance, childcare and even your hobbies, what strikes you as something you’re now ready to try? Can you think of additional helps beyond the ideas mentioned in the book?
Q3. In Chapter 10, Jessica discusses the obstacles that impact how we’re able to spend our time and pursue our passions–finances, interruptions, disorganization, passions becoming obligations and sometimes life just being hard. She stressed the need to be creative during these seasons, and maybe to find another way. Can you think of a time when you encountered an obstacle that was threatening to thwart your fringe hours? Did you find a creative way around it? Please share your encouraging stories–we need to hear them!
Q4. Tell us your favorite quote from this section. What is the one idea that really struck home? Do share!

Monday will mark our final video as we cover the last three chapters in the book. Can you believe how fast time has flown? But our winter study won’t be complete until you share how The Fringe Hours has impacted your life. On Thursday we’ll host a community link-up where you’re invited to share blog posts or links to Facebook or Instagram where you share your thoughts or images related to the study. We hope everyone will plan to share something–what a beautiful way to bless Jessica and Angie as we finish out our study.
Then a week from Monday we’ll have a final farewell you will not want to miss, pinkie-promise!!
Let’s savor these last few days together,
Robin for the Bloom Team
