Joy and Grief and Light

I love Christmas.

It’s been my favorite holiday for as long as I can remember. (I mean, good grief, I’m already talking about it, and it’s only October!) It takes every ounce of willpower I have not to listen to Christmas carols until after Thanksgiving. Are there any other Christmas carol fanatics out there? Someone tell me I’m not alone!

I’ve known great joy at Christmas. My nephew was born in December six years ago (can he be almost six already??), and he ranks pretty high on my Favorite Persons List.

But I’ve also known deep grief at Christmas – my mom passed away six days before Christmas in 2002 when I was just a teenager, leaving behind a husband and three daughters who were quite lost without her for awhile.

Sometimes, when I think about Jesus, I am overcome with emotion for who He is and what He’s done for us and why He did it. Unbelievable grief for what He had to go through, and yet unmistakable joy because He did.

We all have hard times and dark days. But. But. The Word [Jesus] gave life to everything that was created, and His life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.

Jesus is our light source.

He is our hope.

The Everlasting Light Home Decor Collection is a simple way to remember this Christmas season (and all year round!) that Jesus came to be the Light of the World.

and the starburst mirror that reflects our image and reminds us that we are each called to reflect the light of Christ,

each design was carefully chosen to help us reflect on and remember this great truth. What better time to fill our homes with beautiful and intentional reminders than at the holidays?

Are you intentional about how you decorate your home?

How do you center your home on Christ during Christmas?
