Our God is creative! Have you noticed that? I sure have! Genesis to Revelation is lined with just how creative He is. He spoke the very world into existence and breathed His breath into the lungs of man. He created the highest mountains, the lowest valleys and the deepest seas. And He paints the most exquisite of sunrises and sunsets every day across the world.
“I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and will give them all these lands, and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed.”
Genesis 26: 4
This verse is absolutely amazing to me. We are the offspring that God was speaking about. We are the descendents of Abraham. We are the beloved daughters of God. We are as numerous as the stars in the sky. The care that God took in creating those stars doesn’t even compare to the care that He used in creating you.
“For you created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”
Psalm 139: 13
Nothing about you is a mistake. EVERY detail about you was deeply thought about and carefully crafted by the hand of God. Before He even created the earth, He knew there would be a you. He thought about the color of your eyes, your hair, the size of your feet, how tall you’d be. He thought about the things that make you laugh and the things that make you cry. He thought about your every skill, gift and talent. He hand chose each of these for you and only you. There is NO ONE else that is made the way that you are.
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
Ephesians 2: 10
You are unique!
The you who doesn’t feel special.
The you who doesn’t feel important.
The you who doesn’t think she matters.
Yes, you are unique!
Now that we are all on the same page…I believe that the Lord not only wants us to recognize and embrace our uniqueness but to minister out of our uniqueness. Seeing how we are so numerous and so different, this will look different in everyone’s life. The way I reach out to people is different than the way that you do.
That is the sheer beauty of the body of Christ!
“He counts the stars and calls them all by name. How great is our Lord! His power is absolute! His understanding is beyond comprehension!”
It is the Lord’s heartbeat that in our uniqueness we shine in the midst of a dark and broken world. People are hurting. They need the hope that we have. They will see it best displayed when we are being who God created us to be and loving others how God created us to love. Then, people will come to know the Jesus that we know.
“Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.”
God created us to shine.
God created us for good works.
God created us to glorify Him.
How has God uniquely created you to shine in a dark world?
