In this beautiful book trailer, Angie Smith talks about her newest book, Chasing God, and encourages readers to understand the difference between following the Lord and chasing Him.
At (in)courage, we empower women to be like Jesus. Our writers share what’s going on in their life and how God’s right in the middle of it. They bring their joys & struggles so that you can feel less alone and be empowered by the hope Jesus gives.
I can’t wait to read this book. I actually felt like I had been working for the Lord and trying to please Him my adult life (when no one else could be pleased). then, I had a moment where I felt God was pleased with my efforts, and I started reading and reading and listening to find out “why me”. it seems with knowledge: the more you learn; the more you realize you don’t know. He wants us to walk with Him.

This is beautiful! My heart resonated with many aspects of your previous post on this book. The Lord used it to help me. I give thanks!

A friend who’s been a mom much longer than I shared this today. I would live the teacups! I have started meeting weekly for an hour with 2 other moms to pray over our kids and school. We could have tea, too! Thank you for your ministry.
Angie,
I am often told I should be the mentor now that I’ve stepped far into my sixth decade of life – most of it knowing and believing in Him. But just the other day I found myself praying, “Do I love you rightly Lord? How do I love you enough? What does that look like in my moments? And why am I sometimes overwhelmed by feelings of doubt?”
No matter how long we have known Him, there are depths to plumb.
Thank you for having the love and courage to write this book. I’m ordering mine today.

Wow! I thought this book would be about how we should be seeking after God. But when you said the exact opposite it hit me like a punch to the gut. I have been in an unbelievable amount physical pain after an injury almost 19 years ago. I am constantly asking what I am missing in my relationship with God that I am still hurting and stuck in the same place of waiting for so long. I have so many dreams and things I want to do for the Lord but I am stuck, in pain, physically unable to do much at all. I keep chasing Him. …. I can not wait to read your book! Thank you for being so willing to open your life and share it with us.
Karen Wegner… I think you might need to leave that comment on the other post to ensure you get put in the giveaway list. I hope you get those teacups! 🙂 with love,

I can relate so much to feeling like He is just ahead but slightly out of reach! I have just been focusing on following God because my husband and I are in a wilderness that got bigger than we ever imagined. We sing “The Lord knows the way through the wilderness, all I have to do is follow.” I started to ask God, “How do I follow You?” And then I read this post. I so want to experience following Him rather than chasing Him!

Wow. This is point on. Sometimes I struggle with prayer maybe just maybe I too am trying to hard, like a chase. Need to get this book, it sounds like a God lightbulb moment!

something wrong, it takes so much courage I keep looking I feel His Presence
I must read your book.
The video is beautiful and I too was surprised that the message was NOT to chase…I’m curious for more of the story. I believe God is ‘waiting to be wanted’ and wants us to pursue him. But what does that look like? Surely it means something different for each of us, as we are created so uniquely. The posture of our heart is key. I believe that He is pleased with us…just as we are….he looks at his kids thru the lens of Jesus in us. We don’t have to jump thru all the religious hoops to make him love us more. When I figured that out it was a revelation.
Pat Calhounsays
More than anything, a closer walk with God becomes more and more my desire as I grow older. If only young women could grab hold of the “being” more than the “doing” in our relationship with our Faithful Abba Father, lives would be changed, not only for us but for our families, our friends, and maybe even the world in which we live. We have another chance after Eve messed it up 🙂

I want to read the story! I do not want to chase after God, but live beside him fully and share my life with him.

Was that me? Comforting to know that I am not the only one who discreetly looks around the rows of Christians in the sanctuary and comparing what I want to be and what I am at this point since becoming born again through Christ just four years ago at the ripe age of 49 years old.

Enjoyed what the video. I seem to have been chasing God for too long and long to hear His voice more. I love writing poetry to God, but just lately the words just don’t seem to flow. This book seems to be very encouraging and would love to get hold of a copy. Can it be ordered from Amazon if not in with a chance of winning one. I look at others and I know that in Gods eyes I am his but never feel worthy of that love that He gives.
Raquelsays
I have already started reading this book and it has really touched my heart. I’ve always dealt with doubt even as I have called myself a Christian and believer. I perform all the right motions at church and home without truly knowing what words and actions like salvation, exaultation, reedemer and forgiveness truly mean. This book puts it all into perpective in a no-nonsense way. I love Angies tone of writing! I feel like I’m having a conversation with her 🙂 I am already beginning to have a deeper understanding of my beliefs and of God himself. This book has called me to confront those doubts and to put my faith completly in Him as He has called us to do. Thanks Angie for such great writing!
it still amazes me how often I leave God out of my thoughts and plans, when HE is patiently waiting for me to stop running away but to turn and start chasing Him! Can you relate? do you wander, like I do…in my head and heart? I need to reconsider and re memorize 1st Peter 5: 6-7
“Humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for he cares for you.”
