“Fashions fade, style is eternal.”
Yves Saint Laurent
You’ve got style.
In fact, your style was knitted by the God who weaved the universe. You are distinctly made, and your personality is as intricate and unique as your fingerprint. You are art.
Getting dressed is another way to adorn ourselves with beauty, the way God adorns the sunsets with the magnificent reds and oranges and purples – color amidst the light.
You are color!
You shine His glory and reflect His light that is in you. You are a rainbow.
Express yourself with dignity and honor and beauty. Find the art in your soul and let it shine in how you cover your skin.
Be creative. Have fun. Figure out your style. It doesn’t have to cost a lot of money or time. But I want to see the fingerprint of you painted in what you wear, even if it’s just in something small. Perhaps it’s purple boots. Maybe it’s a cute little barrette that you tuck gently in your hair. Maybe it’s bunches of necklaces over a simple t-shirt.
Whatever it is, whoever you are, let that flag fly.
All for the glory of God.

I resonate with your comments, Sarah Mae! Since God made me a woman, I want to celebrate it each day, by dressing in a colorful, feminine way. This, in turn, reflects my personality and style…
I love your view on each of us being art. What a beautiful vision!
I must admit to a bit of envy, however. I was in a car accident about 10 years ago and pretty much every bone in my right foot was broken. While I was able to regain my ability to walk completely normally and without pain, to do so requires that I wear orthotics and “old lady shoes” that look like senior citizen sneakers.
I am so very grateful that the effects of the accident ended up being so minimal, and that my husband and young daughters were not injured. I do find sometimes, though, that I do envy women who can wear lovely outfits because they can wear cute shoes. When you lose the ability to wear cute shoes, well, the whole cute factor of your wardrobe gets swapped out for what goes with black, navy, white or beige sneakers.
I have learned for the most part to not let it bother me and be so very grateful instead, but every once in a while I find myself in the midst of a one person pity party.
I have gone to your site to download your book, and I will be taking a look and seeing what I might do differently. Thanks for your joyful enthusiasm!

I don’t agree with the “cute shoes” idea. You are beautiful not matter what type of shoes you wear. I only have 1 pair of “dressy” shoes & wear them always when I dress up. I have 1 pair of sandals & 3 pair of sneakers.
Personally I’m not into shoes that match each & every outfit. Just dress up nicely from knees up and don’t worry about the shoes. It is actually your personality that people care about more than the shoes or clothes!
Thanks for your encouragement, Beth. Yes, inner beauty is what matters, and I heartily remind myself and other women of that fairly regularly. However, I find it to be one of my most tested beliefs, especially when I am in the midst of women who are dressed well.
I do have plain, basic sandals I can tolerate for a few hours, so that is what I happily wore to my daughter’s wedding a couple of years ago with a long skirt. No one passed out from seeing my shoes, and we all had a great day. 🙂
I just have to keep that in mind when I am feeling self-conscious. Thanks for your kind words!

Wonderful post! I agree with everyone that women should get dressed daily & find it helpful & enjoyable once a week to really spruce up for my hubby. Usually you will find me in either scrubs for work or sweats/shorts & T-shirt. I find my personality changes once I dress up.!
