Exactly one week ago today, we moved into our new home in yet another state. My husband and I don’t have jobs that allow us to take much time off of work … and we have two kids … and we work from home … and those kids are out of school for the summer. Yep. We have not unpacked yet. Not even close.
But the room I am most excited about decorating is my daughter’s. I plan to surprise her by hanging the canvas pictured above in her new room.
Yes, it’s a pretty picture, but I am hanging it because I want her to learn the truth that is plastered on that bright canvas.
I want the last words she sees at night and the first that she sees in the morning to affirm that she is God’s girl. That she is wonderfully made.
For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully madePsalm 139: 13-14.
And that truth? It applies to grown up girls too, you know.

I LOVE the Scripture and the canvas you are placing in your daughter’s new room…it reminds me of this quote from my blog … I believe there are no “accidents” and every conception and every birth is part of God’s Sovereign Plan. I rest and find comfort in these life verses: “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11) “You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.” (Psalm 139:13-16)

Aisha @ JustMomsMusings says
Does Dayspring have that version for boys too? My son is on the autism spectrum and I want him to remember he’s wonderful just the way he is.
Aisha @ JustMomsMusings says
I meant, “verse.” Have that verse. 😀
Angela Nazworth says
Hi Aisha! Off hand, I cannot think of a masculine version of that exact verse … but there are some verses in the urban soul collection that would be great for a boy’s room. And then there are some personalized items as well. They have that verse for Boys that you can personalize … it is in the baby section, but still might work. http://www.dayspring.com/gifts/personalization/uniquely_created_baby_boy_initial_personalized_print_with_frame/ 🙂 http://www.dayspring.com/themed_collections/urban_soul

I wonder if there are any others out there in bodies that seem to let down too many times, having some congenital problems that required surgeries that almost took their life, too many surgeries, too many hard times. Emotions that seem a little too sensitive. This is me. I do work and struggle to go on but sometimes it seems there is no will to go on. I do know Jesus and I KNOW He loves me and has His Hand on my life. I must admit though , there are times where i feel myself reeling from something else and struggling a bit with this verse. Actually it was just this past week that Jesus met me and showed His intense love for me and that i was not a mistake. I feel like maybe i don’t cringe at this verse with quite intensity i did before but i just feel that somehow in my brokenness i must ask how many others are there who sometimes wonder about this…..or am i alone? I feel that i am betraying my Savior by asking this but somehow i don’t think i am alone if ever only for Jesus who knows and understands.
Jessica Turner says
Hey RSW – I wanted you to know that I am praying for you today. You are not alone. I believe we all have moments/days where we struggle to believe God’s truth because it seems too good to be true, doesn’t it? Oh, the wonder of His incredible grace, which IS sufficient. He knows right where you are.
If you have never read Sara Frankl’s blog, I encourage you to go back and read it. Though she was homebound and her body ravaged with sickness, she knew the Lord and spoke well of His sovereignty. She passed away last September, so you will want to go back to September 2011 and earlier… http://www.gitzengirl.blogspot.com

I’m praying for you RSW. I do understand the feelings of inadequacy, fears, trials, etc. that weigh on a heart. I often have to remind myself that when I doubt my worth in Christ, I am believing lies from the pit of hell. You are not alone. You are wonderfully made and so deeply treasured.
PS I love that Jess shared Sara’s blog with you … she did live so richly despite so much pain.

Oh, thanks for this verse 🙂 🙂 I’m losing weight…and sometimes I’m still critical of my look, so I really needed this verse this very morning 😉 🙂 Thank you 🙂 🙂 Love and hugs from the ocean shores of California, Heather 🙂

Isn’t it so freeing to know that we are loved and treasured and beautiful regardless of our struggles? 🙂

Love the scripture and the picture! Often times women tend to forget that we are fearfully and wonderfully made in the Image of GOD!! Young women especially need to hear this often & loud–the world tells us differently!
Angela Nazworth says
Thank you, Beth. I agree …it is so important to reiterate the truth!
Kerry @ Made For Real says
I just memorized these verses for Bible study and not-so-ironically they keep popping up in everything I read! Love that.

God’s faithfulness never ceases to amaze me, Kerry! Thanks for sharing!

You know, in this world of ours we lose sight of that fact. Thanks for that encouragement!

It can be so easy … too easy to lose sight of the truth … daily reminders come in handy, don’t they? 🙂

I came across this verse because I am a knitter–and the thought of God as a knitter is very comforting. The idea that God is a knitter that takes projects apart and uses the yarn yet again and again is also comforting. I have written about Ps. 139 on my blog and for the children’s Adoration meditations–I think we all need to be reminded that God made us perfectly for our own purpose–no need for comparison . . .
