She plummets into the water- sin washed away -she rises and she is free!
Grace. It has cleansed her.
Grinning, she is unable to hold back.
Nerves and hearts- all racing.
We stand alongside her. Witnessing. Celebrating. Awed by her humility.
She proclaims it- the Truth –Jesus, He saves her!
We stand still with eyes locked.
Mouths gaping.
Prayers muttering.
Minds racing.
Here? This swimming pool? Now?!
Is this way actually okay?
Less than five minutes. The whole thing unfolds. Five minute?
Scripture is read. Prayers are released. Then the wash comes. It was all just so quick.
Can it really be?
The plummeting- dying with Christ to her old self and ways.
The surfacing- rising with Christ to become a new creation. His.
How can it be so simple?
Grace. He offers this gift to all of us.
He saves her. He saves me.
She is freed from the lies.
Humility. Isn’t it beautiful?
She tells us- “No more”. No more will she believe that she doesn’t need Him.
No more will she allow the whisper that she’s already done it.
She was baptized as an infant.
Having not known Christ then.
Here and now she stands tall. His wooing has won her!
The Victory and now the Freedom.
Excited…she urges us. She MUST have this done!
Baptism– Her moment. Declared. Sealed.
The washing. A public proclamation of her salvation.
Him.
Her.
Water.
Humility.
All that is needed.
He washes her.
She stands clean, symbolizing, sin no longer seen by Him. Heaven rejoices.
And a beautiful sliver of time is marked for eternity!
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I will be with you always, to the very end of the age”
(Matthew 28: 18-20).
