I have a wonderful group of encouraging creatives that join me every Friday on my blog to share a sneak peek into their studios. A peek of what they are creating. A peek at their passions. It is a time to let us celebrate the process and the accomplishments. A time to inspire one another and a time to be inspired.
I am so excited to move the party here today on (in)courage! This week in my studio…
I have been working on crosses. Lots of crosses. This is one of my favorite designs for the (in)courage shop. It starts with my blank canvas. A canvas of a wood cross that we make in our wood shop. For these thicker crosses, I like to give them textured sides.
My favorite part of this design is the words. Words. Oh how I adore words. These are a group of words I hope everyone can find meaning in. Heart. Family. Believe. Love. Faith.
Each cross comes together with some texture and aging. I love the warm look aging gives a piece. I love the feeling of something that looks and feels well loved.
I also have a peek of 2 new designs for crosses that I am working on. Lots of layers and textures. Along with a single word for a simple design.
And… my (in)courage crosses are featured on the (in)spired deals page during the month of April. How fun is that!
Paint, pottery, sewing, crafting, photography, cooking… What is your passion?
We would love to have you share your passion with us! Please join in so we can see what your creative heart is up to. We want a sneak peek! All you need to do is link up your post below. Then visit others to be inspired. You can join us all week… links are open through April 15.
I hope you find encouragement and inspiration in all of the creativity God has gifted.

I love words, too, Jennifer! Seems like I cannot create a thing without words wiggling their way into my work 🙂 Your crosses are beautiful and I like the worn, aged appearance. Makes you want to touch them.

Love the way you describe the wood cross as a blank canvas. The finished work of Christ used to display the creative gifts he’s given you; making something beautiful and inspiring out of pain. That’s just like our Heavenly Father, isn’t it? Awesome work.
Jennifer says
Thank you for your beautiful words Jodi! HE is amazing!

Beautiful and touching as always!!!
Need to get up to date on what everyone’s been up to… things have just been chaotic around our house which means very little blog time. Hopefully this weekend I can do a little catching up. 🙂

Lovely crosses and the words and backgrounds are perfect together…I’m a big lover of anything collaged. In my studio this week…I’ve done a lot of cleaning and organizing so that I can get back to creating. Sometimes it just has to be done…but I’m so glad it’s over 😉 Have a wonderful weekend. Fondly, Roberta
Jennifer says
Oh yes, cleaning and organizing… I am actually do a lot of that currently myself! But when it is done it feels like you get a whole new burst of creativity! 🙂

Beautiful crosses. I love the way the blue is antiqued with the words. How many do you make at one time? So pretty.
Jennifer says
Thank you Diana. It all depends on the order. Since there are so many steps, I like to work in manageable groups and then complete each step to the entire group before moving to the next step. 🙂

Have a wonderful weekend!
Jennifer says

Jen says
I was really struck by the plainness of the unfinished crosses. And then, as you put the pieces upon them, how they became so alive. And I think about how this plays out in our spiritual selves. God created us beautifully, just as the crosses without anything else, are beautiful. But then I think about how He decorates us, as His words take root in our hearts, and as the fruit begins to sprout, and we, too, become even more alive.
Hoping to get some drawing in today — it’s been a crazy week. Then, I can join the party!
Jennifer says
Beautifully said Jen! “How He decorates us… and we become more alive.” How amazing! Looking forward to having you join the party too! 🙂
