On a rare occasion, I treat myself to a full-service car wash-vacuuming and all. It’s always desperately needed in my full-service mommy-mobile. And I always ask them to spray NEW CAR fragrance. Because A GIRL CAN DREAM. And just for the moment, it’s (like) new again.
Take a deep whiff.
Can you smell it? The air has the New Year smell, doesn’t it?
It’s a brand new year, a fresh start. A chance to do something new, a chance to make a difference.
2011 has a lot of new things wrapped up for me: primarily,Β The Mercy House.
The Mercy House is a non-profit organization that exists to provide an alternative to pregnant, unwed girls living in the streets of Kenya, Africa. It will aid them in nutrition, housing, prenatal care, counseling, Biblical teaching and job skills for sustainable living.
Mercy House was birthed from the relationship created on a Compassion International blogging trip between me and a Compassion Leadership graduate student.
Compassion exists as a Christian child advocacy that sets children free from poverty in Jesus’ name through personal one-on-one sponsorship. Today more than one million children are touched through Compassion.
Dayspring supports both the Mercy House and Compassion International in their community through products, exposure and prayer.
And you’re invited to shop mercy this month here at (in)spired deals and support something new!
God is using these venues to give me an opportunity to do something new in 2011. What new way do you plan on stepping out in 2011? It doesn’t have to look the same as mine. What is God calling you to do-big or small?
We’d love to hear what kind of newness you are planning for 2011 – come on, join the fun and link up a post (old or new) with your boldest plans for this year. Who says you have to even leave your own zip code to make a difference? Go on, inspire us – we’re all ears!
{And there might be something new for one of you – a choice of any Colors of Compassion card sets!}

i love your blog, your passion, your vision, and the love mercy africa necklace my husband bought mne for christmas!
*me*
I am attempting each day to do something for my house, something for my book and something related to self-care. Not very spiritual-sounding, but my spiritual disciplines are in place and these are three areas of slippage that undermine my availability and service in areas of my calling and gifting.
I am going to act on the callings that I hear God calling me to. I feel God working in my life and am working on preparing myself, my home and my family for his leadings. Too many times in the past I have not heeded to his promptings, this year will be different. It may not make sense to many, but to God and me it makes total sense. And that is all that matters.
I finally took the step and opened my photography blog! Here I will document my journey into becoming a professional photographer π I hope you visit sometime even though I only have 2 posts so far!
God really challenged me this year into believing His promises and purpose for my life, and through this path I learned that He will move if I move so I’m taking the first step in order for God to keep moving and teaching me about His love, grace, support and faithfulness!!
No blog to link up to! I had considered making that a project this year but it just wore me out thinking about it! More power and much gratefulness to all you bloggers who inspire me on a daily basis. My BIG plan this year – run a half marathon in September. So I am taking the baby steps to get there (hopefully) without injury.

It is to personal to share right now. I would like this year to be the deliverance for me and my children. I am so encouraged to see and hear what God is doing in the lives of so many unique and creative women. I will be living fearlessly…
This year I want to be more bold. I write a lot of encouraging notes to people when they are going through hard things or sometimes just because, but I a lot of times never give them to the person because I am nervous. This year I am going to try to do that less (the not giving, not the writing). I have already become a little better about it: I wrote and sent a card to a friend whose husband was forced to resign, something I would definitely enver have beena ble to do without God’s help. I am trying to remind myself it is okay to not be perfect and to not really know what to say to someone–it really is the thought that counts–but only if you can follow through and give the person the note.
Well I failed on that one three times today…kinda frustrating, but I guess change doesn’t happen overnight and tomorrow is a new day.
Hope the New Year brings many good things for the Mercy House Kristen π
Kristen, This is Awesome! How wonderful…this is the stuff of eternity. Can’t wait to see how God grows and fills the Mercy House!!
I want to win !
I hope January is a wonderful month for the Mercy House, with the collection drive and the auction. Praying God will bless you richly exceedingly abundantly more than you can imagine!
