Do Something New

On a rare occasion, I treat myself to a full-service car wash-vacuuming and all. It’s always desperately needed in my full-service mommy-mobile. And I always ask them to spray NEW CAR fragrance. Because A GIRL CAN DREAM. And just for the moment, it’s (like) new again.

Take a deep whiff.

Can you smell it? The air has the New Year smell, doesn’t it?

It’s a brand new year, a fresh start. A chance to do something new, a chance to make a difference.

2011 has a lot of new things wrapped up for me: primarily, The Mercy House.

The Mercy House is a non-profit organization that exists to provide an alternative to pregnant, unwed girls living in the streets of Kenya, Africa. It will aid them in nutrition, housing, prenatal care, counseling, Biblical teaching and job skills for sustainable living.

Mercy House was birthed from the relationship created on a Compassion International blogging trip between me and a Compassion Leadership graduate student.

Compassion exists as a Christian child advocacy that sets children free from poverty in Jesus’ name through personal one-on-one sponsorship. Today more than one million children are touched through Compassion.

Dayspring supports both the Mercy House and Compassion International in their community through products, exposure and prayer.

And you’re invited to shop mercy this month here at (in)spired deals and support something new!

God is using these venues to give me an opportunity to do something new in 2011. What new way do you plan on stepping out in 2011? It doesn’t have to look the same as mine. What is God calling you to do-big or small?

We’d love to hear what kind of newness you are planning for 2011 – come on, join the fun and link up a post (old or new) with your boldest plans for this year. Who says you have to even leave your own zip code to make a difference? Go on, inspire us – we’re all ears!

{And there might be something new for one of you – a choice of any Colors of Compassion card sets!}
