I believe in miracles. I know, I know, miracles are a touchy subject for 21st century intellectuals. But I do.
When we read about God parting the seas, providing food in arid places, and giving liberty to captives, we walk out of church roused by history, but unconvinced that the God of yesterday is the God of today.
Have we forgotten the God of Old Testament and the God of the New Testament is the God of today? We don’t need to look into the annals of history to provide examples

Beautifully said, Bianca! I especially love your words, “There is a joy in living open-handed and waiting in expectation.” It sounds like your sweet mama emulated that truth to you! When we live this out, joy and contentment are present in spite of our circumstances.
God is so faithful…may we all take Him at His word! Thanks for writing this!
I believe in miracles, I too, have received them and anticipate them with an open heart and a great love for our great big God!
What a beautiful reminder, sister Bianca! Thank you for sharing your heart and story. I look forward to more blogs from you soon!
Happy Sunday.
Thank you, Bianca! I believe miracles happen every day, to every day people. Even to people who don’t believe in them. Your words today were a gift that I needed to read. Perfect timing!
Bless you for sharing!
Thank you for sharing. I’m interested in learning more of the prayer chart. I, too, believe in miracles. I’ve experienced them in my life, without a doubt.
Thanks for the encouragement, ladies! I’m so blessed to have been invited to write for (in)courage!
@Imperfect: Here’s a link to a blog I wrote about my mom’s prayer list. She’s an amazing woman with great faith who deserves the BIGGEST crown of glory 🙂

Great post Bianca! Definitely encouraging and inspiring! 🙂 I definitely believe in miracles!
I LOVED this post! Made me wanna cry happy tears! 🙂
I definitely want to meet your Mama (and you) on our next So. Ca. road trip. 🙂 My daughter could have written this exact post … as this is exactly how we have lived for many years. God has filled our cupboards, filled our gas tanks, and delivered Christmas gifts. He has ALWAYS provided for our needs.
With Papa being a teacher and then a pastor, the “budget” doesn’t look good for a family with 13 children. However … we always knew that God called him to teach and minister … and God called us to have a large family … so God was going to have to make up the difference on the budget sheet.
Blessings!
mama of many
Hi … Agree! This is a great post.
I believe in miracles also! Thanks to the miracle of God’s healing power, and amazing miracles by people being God’s hands and feet on earth, I am here – living today and walking on my own two feet!
A very special post Bianca–thank you for the picture you painted of your mother’s faith. Thank you for sharing her here and for letting her inspire me to see emptiness as opportunity for God’s filling. He is indeed “the same yesterday, today and forever!”
