  1. The first verse on gratitude that I learned was from a Salty the Singing Songbook tape when I was little…Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love endures forever. He never changes, He stays the same.

It’s sounds very cheery to request our favorite Bible verses about gratitude! I’m finding them to mostly be commanding me to be thankful, and even though I know it’s for my own good, that isn’t necessarily easy or cheery. Praying today for those of you that have to force your gratitude out through gritted teeth because you are straining to keep from falling down the side of a steep cliff.

    • Psalm 116:2. Because He bends down to listen I will pray as long as I have breath. Praying at all times in all places is a practice I have adopted for my life’s journey.

      • “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Phil 4:6-7

I love this verse because it brings me such peace in times of chaos. I love that God’s peace transcends ALL earthly understanding. We don’t have to understand to receive. I am so thankful for His love.

      • Thank you so much, Joyce, for sharing this loving scripture!! I’m personalizing it for my prayer time and for praying 24 hours a day, to:
“Because You bend down to listen, I will pray as long as You give me breath.”
My Mom’s name is Joyce. She passed away the day after Thanksgiving last year. She was a beautiful, spiritual woman who literally gave love and inspiration to everyone around her. My middle name is Joy, after her.
A friend whose name is Joyce said she thinks women named Joyce or Joy tend to spread more love and rejoice at life! Thank you, Joyce! I’m very grateful for the joy you brought me today!

    • “I will give thanks to you, LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.” ~Psalm 9:1.
I love that this scripture talks about thanking Him with my WHOLE heart. No part of me holding back. No part being disgruntled with Him or the plans He put in place for my life. I live the last part, TELLING all of His wonderful deeds. Thank you Lord!

  2. (in)courage,
So many favorites, but I particularly like 1 Chronicles 16:34: Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His steadfast love endures forever.
Even when life is not going well, this reminds me of God’s innate character: He is good. It also reminds me that He is steadfast and nothing will ever separate me from His awesome love. I signed up for the reading plan…thank you!
    Blessings
    Bev xx

  3. “And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
    ‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3:17‬ ‭ESV
Being grateful in all circumstances isn’t easy, but it’s what we are called to do. I find the more I’m focused on gratitude, I’m able to see so many ways God is at work in my life.

  4. Looking through a reading plan I found this verse from Psalm 28 verse 7:
    The Lord strengthens and protects me;
I trust in him with all my heart.
    I am rescued and my heart is full of joy;
I will sing to him in gratitude. (NET)

Daily gratitude helps me to be kinder to those who struggle throughout the day. It reminds me that I don’t always know someone else’s struggle and I should not judge.

    • There are so many good grattitude verses but I think my favorite is I Thessalonians5:18 give thanks in all circumstances for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. It reminds us we should be grateful no matter what season of life we are in and tells us that is God’s will pretty important stuff!!

  5. Psalm 100:5
For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.

    So reassuring, comforting!!

  6. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

I love this verse. It’s simple instructions to live every day according to God’s word. Once we follow His way we find gratitude in the every day and that allows us to shine His love even more!!!

  7. Give thanks to the Lord for He is good. His love endures forever! 1 Chronicles 16:34

God is SO good and faithful, even when we are not. I am so very thankful for all His guidance and provision and strength in this difficult season of life. He is my Rock and my fortress, my good Shepherd.

  8. Psalm 118:24 This is the day the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it.
When we operate from a level of gratitude, from the very moment we open our eyes, it changes you and the lives of everyone around you.

  9. All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God. 2 Corinthians 4:15
His abundant love towards us stirs up a return of thanks that spills over – for our good and His glory!

  10. Psalm 59:16-17 would be my choice of favorites. David was being hunted by Saul. His life was on the line. That is so much deeper the problems that I face. And David said, “I will sing of Your strength … I will sing aloud of Your steadfast love … I will sing praises.” What a reminder to me that God is Sovereign and is my fortress in the day of trouble.

  11. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” This verse reminds me to give thanks even on hard days and in hard seasons. It is so easy to give thanks when all is going well. When the going gets tough, the tough give thanks for something – and then they get going.

  12. Psalms 100:4. “Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.”
Gratitude is something we should do everyday, not just one day a year.

  13. Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before Him with thanksgiving and extol Him with music and song. Psalm 95:1-2. I love this verse because even in the midst of trials and tribulations, we can remain joyful, because He is our Rock of our salvation. This is a great reminder to me to always be thankful for the blessings He has rained on my life. Struggles come and struggles go but His joy remains in my heart forever.

  14. One of my favorite verses is Numbers 6:24-26. “The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make his face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace.” If He can do that for me, then surely I can offer that to someone else.

  15. One of my favorite verses is Isaiah 40:29 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. This is one of my every day prayers for myself and my two sisters.

  16. 1 Thessalonians: 5:18
Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you
This scripture affirms for me that God is worthy of my devotion no matter my burden

  17. Psalm 28:7: The Lord is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving.

The devil uses hurts, pains and difficulties as on-ramps to heisting my joy. This verse reminds me to find joy in even the smallest of circumstances to shield me from being a victim of one of Satan’s drive-bys. By focusing squarely on God, I am able to firmly hold on to my joy and in doing so He helps me put up a virtual “road closed” sign for the thief!

  18. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
    – Philippians 4:6

My reason: Because i have been in a season of waiting and hardships but i am reminded to thank Him in this time regardless!

  19. “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” -Philippians 4:4-7

Rejoice, thanksgiving, peace, safety in the Savior. All words that bring comfort and healing to my soul. It also happens to be my hubby’s favorite Bible passage too. It’s a reminder that no matter what when we are abiding in Jesus we will rejoice, find something to be grateful for and have true lasting peace. It won’t always be easy but it will always possible. Because Jesus.

  20. “Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful,” Col. 4:2 is a favorite. I like the fact that when we are watchful, we have so much to be thankful for. It reminds me to be on watch for all the ways God blesses me.

  21. My favorite verse of gratitude is 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18. I refer to these verses as a “Spiritual To-Do List”. “V 16. Rejoice always, v17. pray constantly, v18. give thanks in everything.” We always have something to be thankful for!

  22. I like a LOT of gratitude scriptures but Philippians 4:6 is a favorite (and I love the entire 4th chapter):

    Don’t worry about anything
    Instead, pray about everything.
Tell God what you need, and
Thank Him for all he has done.
    NLT

Sometimes I have to remind myself if I’m worrying over something too much then I’m not praying enough! This verse also helps me keep
Peace in my heart and gratitude in my soul. I would be truly lost without my Heavenly Father.

  23. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with THANKSGIVING, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus-
    Philippians 4:6-7

Thank you for your daily encouragement!

  24. My favorite in this season of my life is “And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
    ‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3:17‬ ‭ESV

  25. “Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.”
    ‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5:18

  26. Psalm 28:7. I thank God that He is my hope my strength, my rock in every situation and stage of my life. With out Him I’m nothing!!

  27. Here’s mine: Psalm 107:8-9 “Let them give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind, for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.”

  28. I will be glad and rejoice in your love, for you saw my affliction and knew the anguish of my soul. You have not given me into the hands of the enemy but have set my feet in a spacious place. (Psalms 31:7-8) During one of the scariest times of my life I also saw the miracle working power of Jesus. I didn’t know how or when but I held steadfast to this scripture and spoke His promise aloud each day. Friends He is faithful, my family and I our feet rest in a spacious place where we could have easily been homeless, He delivered us to safety. Don’t get carried away with the planning and the details, He knows best. This holiday season I am grateful for His faithfulness.

  29. James 1:17
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

  30. Philippians 4:6-7. 6. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your request be made known to God; 7. And the peace that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus

  31. “And in the midst of everything be always giving thanks, for this is God’s perfect plan for you in Christ Jesus” – 1 Thessalonians 5:18 (TPT)

  32. Ephesians 5:20 says, “giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,” and that challenges me to be thankful for even the really hard things. The things I would rather not have happen in my life. The unkind words said in anger to me. The friend who betrays me. The boss who overlooks me. The cancer. The ways God is growing me to be more like His Son – even if they aren’t my favorite. I fail more than I get it right, but I am even trying to be grateful for that. All for His glory. And only because of Him.

  33. Psalm107:8-9! It helps to remind me of His unfailing love, His wonderful deeds and His care for even our basic needs (food and water)!! HE is good!!

  34. “I will give thanks to the Lord with my Whole Heart” Psalm 9:1

To be grateful in all circumstances is to genuinely do this with your WHOLE heart and entire being. To meditate and put that energy with intent in prayer to the Lord for He is good. Our God is an awesome God and what we can give to him in turn is our Heart. Nothing but the best for Him. Amen.

  35. Philippians 4:6-7
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

These verses were an easy pick. I suffer from anxiety on the daily and suffer from PTSD, depression and Bipolar disorder due to my military career. It is tough to abide by these verses, but I do know that God is with me always no matter what I am going through and I am truly thankful for that. He grabbed me out of a blackhole twice in my life and saved me from death. How can I not love a God like that. Thank you all for what you do. He is my protector always and my breastplate to guard my heart. God Bless Kimberly

  36. “Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.” (I Thess 5:18)

Years ago, I cross-stitched and framed this verse, and it sits on a shelf in my living room where I see it several times a day. This frequent reminder to remember my blessings and express gratitude keeps me looking to God and aware of his unceasing love and care, no matter the temporal circumstances of my day.

  37. Gratitude is spending time with my mother who was (very recently) diagnosed with brain cancer and will not be going through treatment.
She is 83 and we are taking it one day at a time.

  38. Colossians 3:17
“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”

This is my favorite verse because it reminds me to be thankful in every situation AND that everything I do should be in thanksgiving! Whether its dishes, laundry, helping an angry customer at work, I should be thankful in all of this because of Christ Jesus!

  39. My God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus our Lord. Phil 4.19. God has met needs I didn’t know I had, He has filled my needs with His abundance in His perfect time (not my impatient perspective of time). God is good. All the time.

  40. Ephesians 1:7 speaks boldly to me when I think of thanksgivings. Because the blood of Jesus washed away my sin, I can be free. Jesus gave me freedom. He showed me the ultimate act of kindness and love. If He can do that for me then I desire to show as much love and kindness as my flesh posses, to those around me. I’m thankful for my freedom and the opportunity to share with
    others.

  41. Psalm 118:29 Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever. (My husband and I had these printed on little papers tied to a gift we gave our guests at our wedding ceremony 17 years ago. 🙂

  43. Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will fof you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:18

It’s not always easy, but I strive to always look for at least one thing to be thankful for in every situation/station of life I find myself in. Thank you for reminding me about the importance of gratitude in light of all God has done for me.

  46. Philippians 1:3-6 Having lived in several countries overseas, as well as America, this scripture is dear to me. It describes how I feel about those we have met overseas, those in the faith we have walked along side of, and those we walk along side of who have yet come to faith in Jesus. We are thankful that God is working in every heart of our dear friends!

  47. There have been times in my life that have felt so dark and lonely and overwhelming. It’s during these times that I struggle with believing that God is still hearing and seeing me. In my brain, I know He is; it’s my heart that doesn’t feel it. It’s then that I have to make an intentional effort to remember specific times God has been so obviously faithful. He has been faithful to me. He has been faithful to people I love. He has been faithful to people throughout Scripture. Psalm 77:11-12 reminds me to think about these times –

“I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago. I will consider all your works and meditate on all your mighty deeds.”

  48. There are many verses that i can use for praising the Lord and i have so many motives ti do It. 52. I will give thanks to the LORD with my whole heart; I will recount all of your wonderful deeds. – Psalm 9:1

What a precious treasure journals of thanksgiving are! To look back and recount! I hope to point my kiddos daily to all He has and is doing!

  53. The verse I think of in gratitude is my favorite because it reminds me how good and faithful my God is. I am so thankful for the gift of family. We adopted all three of our kids. I saw the hands of God in all three situations.

  54. Psalm 100 was preached on Sunday morning for a service I attended honoring a faithful music pastor and his wife. Thank you for your ministry!

No matter what happens in my life, I know that God always loves me. I can depend on His love.

  59. I recently memorized 1 Thessalonians 5:15-16 and I love it’s simplicity. “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

  60. He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings… you will find refuge Psalm 91:4
Always grateful for the promises of our One and only true Savior.

  61. The verse I choose to remind me is 1 Thessalonians 5:18 “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. ”

Because God is love and everything He does is good and perfect, no matter what comes into my life God has either “authored it Himself” or has “allowed it” for my good and according to His plan and purpose for my life.
Romans 8:28 ” And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”

When anxiety presses in on every side, I repeat this verse over and over.

  63. Ephesians 5:20 – always and for everything giving thanks in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God the Father. I have found this verse helpful in remembering to have gratitude for all things. Sometimes life gets in the way and this verse helps me to find an even keel. Remembering to have gratitude for all that comes my way, helps to make life a little easier. I also find comfort and gratitude in the knowledge that I am not alone.

  64. “Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines….the olive crop fails…no sheep..no cattle….YET I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior .” Habakkuk 3:17-18.

  65. “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever.” Psalm 107:1

This verse is so easy to remember but it also reminds me of two things- God is good and he is faithful.

  66. One of my favorite gratitude verses is 1 Thessalonians 5:18, “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for You.” Not only does it remind us to be content with all things, thanking God for everything, but it reminds us that it is God’s will for us to be thankful. We were made to worship, that is our purpose.

  67. Psalm 136:1 Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, for His steadfast love endures forever.

  73. “Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.”
    ‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5:18.
Notice it doesn’t say “give thanks FOR all circumstances.” It reminds me to look for something to be thankful for at all times. Even in hard circumstances we can be thankful for life & breath.

  74. “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

I love this verse because it reminds me that even in the mundane, when doing the dishes or folding laundry, we should be praying and responding with joy and thanks.

  75. I Timothy 4:4 says “For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected, if it is received with gratitude.” Boy, it has taken me a lifetime to learn this! https://www.bible.com/1849/php.4.6.tpt

    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭28:7‬ ‭NLT‬‬

  86. Gratitude to me is this bible verse: “For once you were full of darkness, but now you have light from the Lord. So live as people of light! For this light within you produces only what is good and right and true.” Ephesians 5:8‭-‬9 NLT
The Lord sent his one and only Son to die on the cross for my sins. I am not worthy of such a sacrifice but I am eternally grateful that he provided me the opportunity to step out of the darkness and walk forever in the light, with him.

  87. Hi, I just saw this email and post. My walk and journey is very new and am still in much of a learning mode. I don’t have verses cemented into memory yet. I know this, God is Awesome and I love him so! I start each day with him, and am eager to learning more of His word.
    Thank you.

  88. Jesus showed the ultimate example of showing gratitude, even knowing what was coming. An example to live by!

    Matthew 14:22-23
22 While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take it; this is my body.”

23 Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, and they all drank from it.

  89. This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it!!

I think that was one of the first bible verses I memorized and even today, it reminds me so much to be thankful for every day. To wake up and start the day off grateful because of who made our days!

  90. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Phil 4:6-7

Thank you for all You do

  91. Always find something to be thankful for, even in the hard times. 1 Thess 5:16-18
As we are currently dealing with the 4th family member dying this year, and helping my young children learn to grieve, we always wake up with this verse in our hearts. Starting the day off in His word is a priority for us!!
I have an incourage bible already and would love to be able to gift one to one of the moms in my MOPS group that I currently lead!!! Thank you for the opportunity!!!

  92. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Phil 4:6-7

  93. “Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.”
    ‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3:16‬ ‭NASB‬‬
Whether I’m worshipping at church, singing with the choir or crying out a broken hallelujah, music always Makes me thankful and draws me closer to God.

  94. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his faithful love endures forever.
    1 Chronicles 16:34 –

This is exactly why I thank the Lord because his faithful love endures forever.

  95. Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Savior. The Sovereign LORD is my strength; He makes my feet like the feet of a deer, He enables me to go on the heights. Habakkuk 3:17-19
My God is a big God and is with me through the full and the empty, even to the end of me. He is the God of the hills and the valleys. Today my Godchild’s daughter is 13, diagnosed with cancer at age 4. Through all the procedures, the surgeries, the treatments. Grateful. Blessed. Each day a gift. Amen.

  96. There are a lot of verses that ignite gratitude in me. Two are Ephesians 2:6-7”,And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.”(NIV)

  97. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.
    1 Thessalonians 5:18 NLT
This is not always an easy verse to follow when things are tuff. It’s a reminder that God works in all circumstances, even the challenging ones. The current study I am doing, Open your Bible, has talked about abiding. Belonging to Christ requires abiding and being thankful in all circumstances is a form of abiding in him.

  98. 2 Corinthians 4:17-18 New International Version (NIV)

17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

  99. Give thanks to the Lord and proclaim his greatness. Let the whole world know what he has done. 1 Chronicles 16:8 NLT

I am planning to share a verse about thankfulness each day in November in a Facebook group that I manage. I am using this verse first because we need to let everyone know what God has done for us.

  100. Colossians 3 :14-17 mentions being thankful three times! In the midst of speaking about love and the peace of Christ within the body of believers, the author firmly instructs the Colossians to be thankful in general, in songs to God/ worship, and ultimately giving thanks to God through His Son Jesus! How powerful is that?

  101. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

  102. In Courage,

    Psalm 100 (NKJV)
Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands! Serve the Lord with gladness; Co me before His presence
    with singing. Know that the Lord, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;
We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.
Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations.
We need to be more joyful in worship services. Some services are very somber & you wonder about the people there. I know each one worships his own way. But to me it is alright to raise your hands, clap & say AMEN in church. Let’s make a little noise & praise Him. Let’s loudly tell the world of His goodness.

    Blessings 🙂

  103. 1 Thessalonians 5:18
    Give thanks in all circumstances.
In 2018, I lost my dad 5 days after my 2nd daughter was born. Learning to have joy and grief in the same feeling was hard, but learned what “thanks in all” really meant.

  104. Oh give thanks to the LORD
    Call upon His name
Make known His deeds among the people
Sing to Him, sing praises to Him
    Speak of all His wonders
    Psalm 105: 1-2 ❤️

  105. Psalm 107: 1-3
    Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good;
    His faithful love endures forever.
2 Let the redeemed of the Lord proclaim
that He has redeemed them from the hand of the foe
3 and has gathered them from the lands—
from the east and the west,
from the north and the south.
He is good! I have seen His goodness in my life and in the life of others.

  106. Ps. 100:4,5 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

  107. Psalm 68:19 “Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens.”

Couldn’t make it without Him carrying burdens!

  108. Give thanks to the Lord for He is good.. That last part- “He is good”- says it all. I know God only wants good for each of us. When we keep that in focus, we can get through anything.

  109. I Thessalonians 5:18 “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”

  110. 15Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful. 16Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God. 17Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father. Col 3:15-17

Verse 15 plants the concept of thankfulness (“be thankful”); verse 16 describes how we should worship and sing (“with thankfulness in your hearts to God”). The grand finale, however, is verse 17, which leaves no doubt of how we should react to God’s grace, love and mercy: “do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.” Mediating upon these verses has given me a greater understanding of the greatness of God, the enormity of who He is and what is His due. Upon unpleasant reflection, my was nature and a poor reflection of His Spirit dwelling within. So, day by day, hour by hour, minute by minute, I cling to to the act of gratitude and living in thankfulness. Amazing how those hiccups in life seem so minor now, and how much better prepared I am to deal with the big storms – all because of allowing gratitude to thrive!

  111. I am grateful that God’s love endures forever
    Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good;
his love endures forever. 1 Chronicles 16:34

  112. My favorite hands down is Ephesians 3:20 – “Now unto him that is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,”. This scripture always puts me in a posture of worship and thanksgiving for who God is, all that He has done and all that God is still able to do. It reminds me that no matter what it looks like He is able and for that I give Him glory and honor. I give Him praise because He’s just that good! Hallelujah!!!

  113. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

This verse speaks to me and helps me walk this life since my husband passed in January this year unexpectedly. I am so thankful and grateful God put him in my life for the time I had him.

  114. In rightousness you shall be established; you shall be far from opression, for you shall not fear; and from terror, for it shall not come near you. Isaiah 54: 14. A beautiful promise to remember in those dark moments. Thank you Lord for your faithfulness.

  115. Psalm 28:7
The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him. (ESV) A wonderful example of how God protects us, strengthens us, and helps us. He is so good and loving that my heart can’t help but to exult him with song! When I’m struggling this is not only a reminder that he is there with me but it’s also a promise that I will he helped and for that reason (and so many others) it encourages me to praise him even in the hard times.

  116. Give thanks in all circumstances for this is God’s will in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:18

Knowing that this is God’s will helps me to give thanks in all (even the hard ones) circumstances.

  117. II Thessalonians 5:18 NIV
“…give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

We always ask what God’s will is….it is for us to live in gratitude in all circumstances! Not an easy task for any of us without the Spirit’s guidance and help!

  118. 1 Thessalonians 5:18
“give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
This is my life verse. I have lived by it ever since i lost my baby at 5 months pregnant. His will is always better than mine, even if I don’t know exactly what that looks like.

  119. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. Philippians 4:6

  120. “Every good and perfect gift is from above.”
This reminds me that it’s all about Him. It’s easy to forget when things are going well sometimes. Not only are the big things wonderful, but even the little things that are good are worthy of His praise.

  121. Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vine, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my savior. The Sovereign Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to go on the heights.
    Habakkuk 3:17-19

  122. My favorite verse about gratitude is 1Chronicles 16:34 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.

  123. Psalm 100 :4 Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise.
This shows us that gratitude and praise are keys for coming into His presence which is an awesome blessing.

  124. Give Thanks always for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ
    Ephesians 5:20
