One of my favorites would definitely have to be Isaiah 62:4 specifically this part: My delight is in her. 🙂
Philippians 4:8 is my favorite in this season of life.
Philippians 4:6-8 has been a favorite from the first time I heard the verses.
The scripture I pray over my family most often is Psalm 91
2 Corinthians 12:9 is the one that always comforts and encourages me.
‘But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.’
Particularly at this season where my family is going through a big challenge, God encourages me that this difficult time is the time that HE is working, and that He will never give us a cross that we are not able to take up 🙂
I have so many scriptures that I consider favorites. I love Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord…”
For when you did awesome things that we did not expect, you came down, and the mountains trembled before you.
Since ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides you, who acts on behalf of those who wait for him. – Is. 64:2-4
I mean…..really. He does awesome things we don’t expect. For those who wait on Him. (No perfection required. 😉 ) And how awesome is He? No ear has perceived and no eye has seen…..
It comforts me. It reminds me who God is. And it moves me towards love for Him (and action).

Romans 8:31-39 is one of my favourites. It is a constant reminder of how God’s love always remains, no matter what!
I have many favorites but, in recent times, Psalm 34:18 has been a favorite and a comfort to me:
“The LORD is near to the brokenhearted
And saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
He is so good.
Mine is Zeph. 3:17 “The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.”
Everything about that verse makes me feel happy and secure and loved.
Seeing the jewlery reminded me of Psalm 1 that speaks of a strong growing, and fruitful tree illustrating a life connected to the Life Giver. That is one of my favorite portions.

I hang onto this one when I a struggling or it doesn’t seem like things are going the way they should.
“I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in His word I put my hope.” – Psalm 130:5
This reminds me that God is always working, and it also reminds me to cling to His word in the meantime. 🙂

Lately it’s been 1 Timothy 4:7-12. I started a ministry (GodlyGals.com) at age 17. I’m 25 now, not old by any means, but a bit more seasoned — both in the world and the Word. Still, I need this reminder because I do experience a little prejudice and judgment for my lack of “experience” (so many meanings) from time to time.
God has a plan for me. I will follow him and his leading until my time here is through. That verse is just the encouragement that I need.
My husband lost his job on Wednesday and this verse has been my head. I love Proverbs 3 but this is what I keep repeating over and over…

I “found” this one when I was at a youth conference right before the start of my SR year of HS. It is now the verse that is at the bottom of my email for work.
I just LOVE the PROMISE in it and the HOPE that is found there too.

“The LORD is my portion,” says my soul, “Therefore I have hope in Him.”
In it, I find comfort, encouragement and rest.

Several have quoted the Proverbs 3:5-6 always a solid rock in my mind but another that is so very comforting to me is:
James 1:2-3 Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.
He is STILL working on me! Even at 47 there are times when things are so rough – He is STILL working on me, he doesn’t give up! Trials of all kinds can make or break us – knowing He is there to build us up as we grow in Him – is so important.
One of my favorites is Heb 11:1-2!
I turn to Proverbs 3 when I need an encouraging word and to remind myself what’s important.

“may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

I just found this verse this week. Isn’t it a lovely explanation of who each of us is. Only by His Grace!
Ephesian 1:7-8 I love how it words that God lavished grace on us with all wisdom and understanding. Lavished…what a word picture!

There are many verses that speak to me, but James 1:19 is something I try to live by: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.
My very favorite scripture and one I cling to every day is Psalm 91 (commonly known as the soldier’s Psalm). Our Son is career Army and this Psalm has brought us both so much comfort. We know without a doubt that God protects him as well as all of our soldiers – our True American Heros.
We are Abiding in the Shadow of the Almighty!
Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still, and know that I am God;I will be exalted among the nations,I will be exalted in the earth” (NIV).
This verse has been dear to me for so many years. Whenever I start to worry, these words come back to me, reminding me the God is truly in control.
My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26 A verse that has carried me through many of life’s storms.

Psalm 1 – I just gave a Bible study on that chapter and I want to be like those trees planted by streams of water – strong and tough and beautiful and true in every season.

I have loved I Corinthians 15:58 for years. After Paul reviewed the victory of Christ’s resurrection, God used him to tell us, “Be ye stedfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord; for ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.”
Keep at it, girls. God has already done the hard part.
One that has been encouraging me lately are 2 Corinthians 5:14-21, Micah 6:8, Joshua 1:8-9, and Ephesians 3:20-21.

Ann V had a post a short while back about how our strong words as mothers have a profound effect on our children – as a mom of a two year old and a two month old, the verse she quoted has really stuck with me – Ephesians 4:29. Every time I face another “two-yr-old creation” I pray that God gives the right words to (in)courage his formation, not hinder it. 🙂

Psalm 23:10 I was thrust into your arms at my birth. You have been my God from the moment I was born.
From the moment I was born He has been there. He has seen every hurt and blessing that has come to pass, and knows everything that is to come. I can lay my burdens at His feet and let my head rest in His lap, knowing full well that He is there.
Proverbs 3 is my favorite verse. The permission to stop leaning on my own understanding is refreshing.
I’ve been holding on to Jeremiah 29:11. Even though I feel unsure of the plans for my life, I know that I can rest safely on the fact that God knows what all of my days hold and the ultimate plan is to glorify Him.
“Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.” – Psalm 19:14
This verse is comforting me in times of need. ” Peace I leave with you, peace I give unto you; not as the world giveth, give i unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid”. – John 14:27 ..
Its very encourging especially in the times that Nashville has had and I have had personally. God is faithful and whatever he brings my way is for a reason and I just have to learn to trust in him and know that everything happens for his purpose and in his timing!

I love Romans 12:12, “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” Simple Instructions with a big impact, always leave me feeling loved, because I know that’s the grace the Father extends ME!
This blessing is one of my favorites, when I was growing up, our pastor at the time used to close the service with it almost every Sunday.

Romans 8:28 comes to my mind for myself, for those I love and for those I minister to..
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
1 Peter 1:6-7
“So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you have had to endure many trials for a little while. These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold- though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.”
This gives me “big picture” perspective when I can get easily lost in my pain/discouragement, reminding me that my pain is not for nothing and God is actively at work in my life even in the “dark” times!
Well today it’s from James 1, verse 17 (I think). God does not change like shifting shadows. I don’t have to worry that beneath his shining exterior that there is darkness. I don’t have to be afraid that He says one thing but will do another. He’s faithful and dependable . . . and GOOD.
2 Corinthians 5:14 I am compelled by Christ’s love
I went through a season where I had to learn to be moved forward in ministry by His love, not my guilt, not my obligation, and not my need to hide my imperfections, unhealing, and brokenness with “ministry activity” – I still love this scripture
So often lately I have been asking and praying: “Lord, What would You have me to do?” Acts 9:6
I’ve been really struggling lately with a specific situation, and then the other night I randomly started reading in John. This is the verse that really struck me:
“For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.”
John 1:17
It is such a blessing to me – I am not bound to the law. I want to accept God’s grace and live in His truth!

My favorite is Jeremiah 29:11. I love having that hope.
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” ~ Colossians 3:23&24
After struggling with infertility for five years, this verse was instrumental in showing me that whatever I do (whether as a mom or childless), I am serving Jesus and HE makes whatever I do worthwhile.
Wow! There are so many but this one speaks to what is going on in my families life…Learning to be work hard and to be an example to others…1 Thessalonians 4:11-12 “Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with your hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.”
My favorite verse in the Bible is 1 Samuel 12:24
“But be sure to fear the LORD and serve him faithfully with all your heart; consider what great things he has done for you”
Romans 8:28-
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
This is so encouraging to me that no matter what comes my way, or what I must go through for a season, I will endure and look to my God- who is the one in charge. Desiring to bring Him glory in all things, and in all seasons.
A verse that has meant so much to me is Psalm 37:4. My husband and I have the reference in our wedding bands as a reminder that God needs to be the delight of our lives. In His perfect plan and timing He works HIS desires for our life. When I truly delight in Him, my desires are His.
“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all” (2 Corinthians 4:16-17, NIV).
I love these two verses. They help me to keep my suffering in perspective, and they encourage me to persevere. The glory, joy, and reward that awaits in Heaven is so amazing and out of proportion to the suffering I endure today. With God’s strength I can keep on keeping on.
One that is dear to me right now is:
Prov. 21:21
(S)He who pursues righteousness and love
finds life, prosperity and honor.
Psalm 72:20-21 “Though you have made me see troubles, many and bitter, you will restore my life again; from the depths of the earth you will again bring me up. You will increase my honor and comfort me once again.”
The word “AGAIN” has always been a constant reminder of God’s faithfulness…even when I fail. He is the God of restoration…however many times and however long it takes. 🙂

I have peace in knowing that even though I may not have it all figured out or don’t know what my future holds, God already has great plans for mine & my family’s life. And in that I have found comfort.
In my current season of health problems, 2 Cor. 12:7-10 is encouraging me. “…there was given me a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.'”
Lamentations 3:21-23
Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.
I like to refer to this as my motto for life, got it plastered everywhere!

I think of this daily. It helps me to stay on the straight and narrow path. I just wish worldly folks would follow this also because who wants God to hate them?

I was given this framed as a wedding gift. I once thought this was the key to a happy marriage (and it is), but more recently I’ve been reading this and replacing “love” with “God”. GOD is always patient and kind;…It reminds me that God is love. It reminds me He will always love me because “Love does not come to an end.”

Sometimes I forget that God has much to show me – beyond all that I can imagine.
Luke 1:45 “And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what had been spoken to her by the Lord.”
I love this example of choosing to believe God and watch Him move. God loves to be believed!

A good reminder when things aren’t going so well:
The moment we get tired in the waiting, God’s Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don’t know how or what to pray, it doesn’t matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. He knows us far better than we know ourselves…and keeps us present before God. That’s why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good
Oh, so many but I blogged this one yesterday which for me really puts everything into perspective…

1 Peter 4:10 is what we based our 4:10 Ministries on … “Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.” What’s your gift? Discover it, develop it and make a difference with it.
What has garnered me much peace this past year has been Philippians 4:8-9
8Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
9Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.
We are in spiritual warfare and the biggest battlefield is our thought life. Get that in order and your actions are soon to follow. Which makes me smile to think about, because I have often done what I knew to be right and my heart and mind followed after. 🙂

The mantle of praise instead of a spirit of fainting, so they will be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord that He may be glorified.

isaiah 58 is my favorite chapter
I read Psalms 91 this morning, and the first few verses really spoke to me, it focused on the names of God: “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High (El Elyon)will abide in the shadow of the Almighty (El Shaddai)I will say to the Lord (YHWH) My refuge and my fortress, My God,(Elohim) in whom I trust!” The rest of the chapter is excellent too! 🙂
Psalm 91 is one of my favorites, I love abiding in the secret place with the Lord. It makes me feel like a little girl playing with her daddy their secret place. I love my daddy God!
My favorite verse in the bible is Isaiah 40:31. Years and years ago I bought one of those little cards with my name on it. Well, this is the scripture that was underneath my name. At the time I thought nothing of it, but I see now how God has made it my favorite verse. It is amazing that when I see this verse written on something, I just get this huge smile on my face. I feel like God is speaking. It has comforted me so many times. He is amazing. Thanks for letting me share.

i have always loved Philippians 4:6-7 and have claimed them as my life verses.
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7 NKJV
But lately I have claimed PSalm 143 recently because it speaks to what I need right now on so many levels. My favorite part of it is
“Revive me, O LORD, for Your name’s sake!
For Your righteousness’ sake bring my soul out of trouble.”
My favorite passage is 2 Peter 1:3-11. It starts out…
“…seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.”
What a comfort to know that Jesus’ power has given us everything we need for life and godliness…everything!

It’s so good to know that as a believer in Christ, my salvation has been sealed by God with the Holy Spirit! He is the earnest money, the down payment, the security of my salvation. There are many more verses similar to this. I also like the one where Jesus said that he holds the believer in His hand, and no one can pluck us out — that includes ourselves!

My daughter was married recently & chose this verse for her wedding program ~ a beautiful reminder of what is possible through the love & forgiveness of our beloved Savior, Jesus Christ.
The past two years have brought 2 job losses, a move, 9 months of paying for two homes, serious health concerns and more.
This verse was the one I kept going to the most through it all:

Goodness! It’s hard to find just one. I think one of the things that spoke to me most was when Hannah was praying to God for a child, in 1 Samuel 1. When we were going through infertility, this spoke so sweetly and strongly, for God truly knows a woman’s heart and her desire to become a mother.
It would have to be Matthew 5:22. My family is walking through some issues but God definitely is in the picture. He quietly told me to expound on the scripture and say ” In the Waiting, Have Faith In God ” .
So as I wait on the Father, I trust His judgment more than I do my own.

This verse has been my steadying rock over these last almost 2 years as I’ve been in treatment for breast cancer. What a comfort!!
My favorite verse is and always will be from Ezekiel regarding a new heart when I was born again 5 years ago so this passage has great meaning for me…a total life change.

This week Proverbs 11:25 is speaking volumes to me – “A generous man will prosper; He who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.”
Jesus is teaching me that I don’t have to “have it all together” to be generous with what I can offer – time, a smile, small talk in a line, a kind word – I can refresh others in the tiniest of ways and it can almost seem insignificant. Then, without warning, I feel so refreshed and have more to give. Very cool!

I have to constantly remind myself that I am not in control. I am a planner at heart and this scripture reminds me that He already knows the plan for me and it is my job to figure it out. : )

Galatians 2:20 always reminds me that it is Christ who lives in me (I know longer live). This is a great encouragement because I know that I can do anything in Christ!
I have many favorites. But each one holds a special place according to the situation I go thru, or the battles I struggle with. And the verse becomes alive and gives me strength and sees me thru. For example, just recently, Ive had my first new job being new here. It was overwhelming, but Psalm 23, and especially the verse, “Though I walk thru the valley of death, I will fear no evil for thou art with me.” The verse truly gave me strength and as I walked to my job, I felt his presence and his help as I claimed the promise. His words are life and they are spirit.

The whole book of Jeremiah speaks to me. Here was an ordinary guy who said whatever God told him to say. He hesitated at first, but trusted God enough that he went out there and spoke. He was labeled a crazy person, he had a price on his head, but he kept talking. When people did listen, amazing things happened.
I’d love to have that kind of bravery. I usually don’t. And I hate it when I know I need to speak up and I don’t. When I read Jeremiah, I’m encouraged and feel the need to start acting more like him and less like the shy creature that has taken up residence in myself.
1 Corinthians 13:4 “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy. It does not boast. It is not proud.” This has gotten my husband and me through many trials.
2 Corinthians 12:9-10 has meant a lot to me lately.

My 4th child & 3rd son Charlie was unexpectedly born with Down Syndrome last Sept. Psalm 139:13-16 have been a great encouragement to me. Charlie is fearfully and wonderfully made and he is a wonderful work of God. God has given me a tremendous sense of responsibility but also privilege in raising Charlie & his siblings. What great hope we can have in God’s sovereignity and goodness to each of us.
Yesterday, Psalm 116 spoke to me. The middle says, “Return to your rest, my soul, for the Lord has been good to you.” Ah…rest.

Isaiah 41:10 God’s promises in this verse are so comforting! I especially love how simply He declares “I AM your God”… you don’t have to worry, I’ve got it covered, I AM what you need.

With ‘moderately severe’ Fibromyalgia, reminders of Truth like this one, are indeed life-lines. There is a sober reason why chronic pain sufferer’s have a high suicide rate. However, I subscribe to Sono Harris’ take on these trials:
Eph 4 and Ro 12 because I believe they are 2 of the most powerful personal prayers!
John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God.” The Word in my soul is rich and will endure forever.
